Dahlonega Trail Fest: Potholes & Roots 5K/10K Race

3rd Annual Trail Run Benefits the Yahoola Trail Conservancy

The Dahlonega Trail Fest is an annual celebration of the beginning of spring and Dahlonega’s designation as an AT Community. The festival is a great family friendly weekend of events at the southern gateway to the Appalachian Trail. The festival is March 27-29, 2015 and one of the weekend’s events is the Potholes & Roots Race on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

It has a new name (formerly known Spring on Springer), but this is the 3rd year for the Potholes & Roots Race, which offers 10k and 5k distances. Both races start and finish at Hancock Park in Dahlonega. The 10k leaves Hancock Park over to run a loop around 3.6 miles Lake Zwerner Trail, and then heads back to Hancock Park. The course is road and trail, and more challenging than the 5k distance. Those who don’t want to brave the trails can choose the 5k race which is 100% on the road; because of this it is also friendly to those who want to walk.

Hancock Park is located just off Dahlonega's Historic Square at the corner of North Park Street and Warwick Street. It is a spacious green space in the heart of downtown. Things will be in full swing at the festival as participants cross the finish line. You can sit back relax listen to music and have yourself a brew from the beer tent. www.dahlonegatrailfest.org/

10k: $35 until Feb 16^th - $40 until Mar 23^rd - $45 through race day
5K: $25 until Feb 16^th - $30 until mar 23^rd - $35 through race day

A t-shirt is guaranteed to all who register by March 20, 2015. Awards will be presented to Overall Male/Female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd • 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Age Group • 1st Overall Masters. There will be early packet pickup Friday March 27th from 11am-7pm at Totally Running and Walking, 28 North Grove Street, Dahlonega, GA, and the race will take place rain or shine!
