DESCRIPTION:3rd Annual Trail Run Benefits the Yahoola Trail Conservancy\n\nThe Dahlonega Trail Fest is an annual celebration of the beginning of spring and Dahlonega's designation as an AT Community. The festival is a great family friendly weekend of events at the southern gateway to the Appalachian Trail. The festival is March 27-29\, 2015 and one of the weekend's events is the Potholes & Roots Race on Saturday\, March 28\, 2015.\n\n\n\nIt has a new name (formerly known Spring on Springer)\, but this is the 3rd year for the Potholes & Roots Race\, which offers 10k and 5k distances. Both races start and finish at Hancock Park in Dahlonega. The 10k leaves Hancock Park over to run a loop around 3.6 miles Lake Zwerner Trail\, and then heads back to Hancock Park. The course is road and trail\, and more challenging than the 5k distance. Those who don't want to brave the trails can choose the 5k race which is 100% on the road\; because of this it is also friendly to those who want to walk.\n\n\n\nHancock Park is located just off Dahlonega's Historic Square at the corner of North Park Street and Warwick Street. It is a spacious green space in the heart of downtown. Things will be in full swing at the festival as participants cross the finish line.
