Cracker has been described as a lot of things over the years: alt-rock, Americana, insurgent-country, and have even had the terms punk and classic-rock thrown at them. But more than anything Cracker are survivors. Cofounders Lowery and Hickman have been at it for almost a quarter of a century – amassing ten studio albums, multiple gold records, thousands of live performances, hit songs that are still in current radio rotation around the globe (“Low,” “Euro-Trash Girl,” “Get Off This” and “Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out With Me” to name just a few), and a worldwide fan base – that despite the major sea-changes within the music industry – continues to grow each year. In 2014, the core Cracker trio of Lowery, Hickman, and Faragher returned to the recording studio, joined by drummer Michael Urbano and keyboardist Thayer Sarrano. By the year's end, the group had released an ambitious two-disc set, Berkeley to Bakersfeild, which has recieved national acclaim. For more info visit: www.crackersoul ... read more

Carrie Elkin is one of those rare artists with a tidal wave singing voice and a stage whisper writing voice that brings you to the edge of your seat, emotionally. Like Patty Griffin or Brandi Carlile, she straddles the Americana, Folk, and Indie Rock worlds, where meaningful songs meet the fierce-yet- fragile voices of powerful women. Like these other seminal artists, Elkin has the gift of projecting very personal intimate moments into transcendent universal experiences that move us all. But it's the power of her live performances that really have been creating an incredible buzz around this young artist. Maverick Magazine said it best, after a recent festival performance: ''I have never seen a performer so in love with the act of singing. That's the gospel truth, and from what I've subsequently learned, I'm not the only one to believe or state that. Onstage, Elkin was simply a force of nature.'' Her husband and fellow acclaimed songwriter, Danny Schmidt joins her for this amazing show! ... read more

Georgia born singer-songwriter and roots-rock artist Cody Marlowe found his inspiration at an early age in the soulful sounds of B.B. King, Merle Haggard, and the Allman Brothers. Marlowe’s songs explore the polarities of good and evil in an intriguing blend of lyrics featuring lost loves and hopeful musings. His 2013 album, “Silver and Gold,” is his third release since his first EP, “Where You Are,” released in 2010 and his first full length, “Eighty Nine,” released in 2011. For ''Silver and Gold,'' Marlowe teamed up with brothers, producer/drummer Kevin Sellors and bass player Ryan Sellors, to form his new back-up band the Dead Flowers. During the recording process, Marlowe recruited Joey Huffman on organ (Hank Jr., Matchbox 20) and Nathan Bedingfield on electric guitar (Aaron Shust). “Silver and Gold” is a return to the roots of rock n roll, country, blues, and honest songwriting; reminiscent of Tom Petty and the Black Crowes but with a modern edge inspired by childhood in the 90’s. ... read more

The staunch country traditionalist has survived career setbacks that would have defeated most performers. Instead, he has recorded a group of songs that will make him the most applauded newcomer of the year. The fact that this new project exists is something of a minor miracle. Every other time he tried to make a record, the music industry burned his dream to the ground. Until this year, all his hard work had always seemed to be in vain. Although his voice sounds marinated in Jack Daniels, this honky-tonk singer is over-all a straight arrow. “I’ve never smoked, I don’t chew, I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink. I’ve never been in any kind of trouble. I’ve never even had a speeding ticket. Some people don’t get that.” says the outstanding barroom stylist. The result is a pluperfect portrait of a proud country traditionalist. For more info visit: https://www.shaneowenscountry.com/ ... read more

The Return got its start back in 1995 when four young friends got together to play their favorite Beatles songs just for the fun of it. They wanted to recreate the early sixties Beatles concert experience from the tiniest detail (John Lennon’s on-stage gum-chewing) to the biggest, most expensive details (using exact replicas of the instruments and gear the Beatles used). While they were learning to comb their moptops just right and finding the right black suits to wear, they learned each song note for note, rhythm for rhythm—getting the signature moves and ‘looks’ of the Fab Four down pat--just for you! Atlanta’s Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics are the heirs to the thrones of the old-school masters. But they’re much more than just a group of revivalists trying to create a period piece. Powerhouse singer Velle and her band will settle for nothing less than bringing these classic sounds glimmering into the now with a fresh, new contemporary sheen. It’s this inviting and accessible bravado that has scored the band critical acclaim from outlets such as The New York Daily News, MTV, Paste and more. And in addition to their critical success, at a time when record sales are at an all- time industry low, the completely independent, DIY-minded Velle and the Soulphonics sold a quarter-million downloads of their single, “My Dear” on iTunes, landing them in the top 30 on Billboard’s Heatseeker charts and at a stunning #4 on the iTunes R&B charts when their debut album It’s About Time was released in 2012. For many, Ray Scott needs no introduction. Warner Bros. released Scott’s debut album My Kind Of Music in 2005 to enormous critical acclaim. The first single and title track cracked the top 40, but label politics and radio’s reluctance to give airtime, had him off the label less than two years later. But a funny thing happened on the way to post-label obscurity – a level of success many major labels might envy. Crazy Like Me (2008) as a project, but ended up getting strong critical reaction and surprising sales. Encouraged, Ray connected with producer Dave Brainard to record Rayality (2011). The single “Those Jeans” received substantial airplay on SiriusXM and went on to sell a couple hundred thousand copies. For more info visit: www.RayScott.com/ *PLEASE NOTE. Were you a child or teenager when your mother died? Do you often long for a mother’s guidance and care? Does your life story feel like it’s split into “before” and “after” – and that a piece of you is still stuck in the “before”? Do you often feel like an outsider among family and friends? Would you like to share three days with other women who understand? Acclaimed authors and mother loss experts Hope Edelman (Motherless Daughters, Motherless Mothers) and Claire Bidwell Smith (The Rules of Inheritance, After This) will take women on a three-day journey to share stories from their pasts, discuss their present-day lives as women without mothers, and set gentle intentions for their futures. Together we'll examine issues such as the fear of dying young, resistance to self-care, and feeling ''stuck'' at the age we were when our mothers died. Using small and large group discussions, experiential work, and storytelling techniques we'll explore the unique strengths and weaknesses that stem from early mother loss and the opportunities they offer for continued growth. Hope and Claire are two of the most experienced and well-known voices in this field. This weekend is a rare opportunity to work with them together and to immerse in a healing experience within a community of women who share similar stories. Come prepared to share, stretch, cry, laugh, learn, and grow. This workshop is for women who were up to age 21 when their mothers died. We ask for at least one year to have passed between the date of loss and the first day of this workshop. ... read more
