Lumpkin Literacy Approved as a Certified Literate Community Program!
We’re thrilled to announce that Lumpkin Literacy has once again been approved as a Certified Literate Community Program (CLCP) by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG)—this time for 2025–2029!
This photo, taken in 2017 when our fearless leader Geoffrey Kridel received our first CLCP resolution from TCSG, reminds us just how far we’ve come—and how deeply our community believes in the power of literacy.
What is a CLCP?A CLCP is more than a designation—it's a community-wide commitment to improving adult literacy through collaboration, education, and lasting change. The program mobilizes every available resource to:
Unite public and private partners Support adult learners Grow community-wide demand for literacy Celebrate the economic and social benefits of improved education Build a sustainable culture of lifelong learning
Why it matters:When literacy is valued, communities thrive—educational achievement rises, school dropout rates fall, and challenges like poverty, crime, and unemployment begin to fade.
We’re proud to lead this work in Lumpkin County and honored to carry the CLCP torch into the future.
