Vintage Chevrolet National Meet - Apr 10, 2008 to Apr 13, 2008
Vintage Chevrolet National Meet
The Vintage Chevrolet Club of America (VCCA) was founded in 1961. The organization has grown to be a world wide group of enthusiast dedicated to the preservation and original restoration of Chevrolets. In the continental United States the club is divided into 12 areas; Area 9 covers the Southeast United Sates. These states include Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South and North Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Every year each Area hosts a National meet. In Area 9, the annual meet is rotated around the various clubs in the area. Atlanta’s The Heart of Georgia Region, a new and highly energetic group of Chevrolet enthusiasts, is hosting this year’s meet. Actually some of the members have been long term members in the National club going back to 1961. It’s “older brother”, the Central Georgia Region anchored in Warner Robins, hosted the event two years ago.
This year’s event will commence on Thursday, April 10th with entries expected from fifteen states. The event’s highlight is the show and judging on Friday the 11th, followed on Saturday with a tour by many of the entries to selected sites in the Dahlonega area. This is followed by an awards banquet on Saturday night at the well known Smith House. Whether the cars are viewed in a static display or cruising down the highway, the sight of fifty to sixty polished and pampered America’s favorite automobiles is an unforgettable site.
