On February 8 at 7:30 PM, UNG will welcome the world renown Vega String Quartet to Gloria Shott Performance Hall. The New York Times raved that "[the Quartet’s] playing had a kind of clean intoxication to it, pulling the listener along…the musicians took real risks in their music making" and the L.A. Times praised their “triumphant L.A. debut.” The quartet has presented concerts both nationally and internationally, most recently in Baltimore, Chicago, Nashville, Sacramento, Berlin, San Miguel, and the Brahmssaal in Vienna’s Musikverein.
Their program will include the Beethoven String Quartet Op. 130 , the Haydn Quartet Op. 1 No. 1, and David Garner’s “I ain’t break but I am badly bent’ - 13 fiddle tunes for string quartet.
This event will take place in Gloria Shott Auditorium which is located in John L. Nix Mountain Cultural Center on the Dahlonega campus.
