Meet artist Shanequa Gay and hear her discuss her installation in the Bob Owens Gallery. In this new installation of photographs, mural painting and constructions, Shanequa Gay continues exploring the journey of her young girl protagonist. Having gone through her ini-she-ation in Gay’s last installation, the girl now seeks to find and claim space. The exhibition is entirely constructed in black and white, expressing the artist’s assertion that “black is a powerful color all on its own: loud and quiet, exquisite and crude. Such is the experience of young, hued girls finding their place in the world.” Refreshments will be offered to all attendees.
