Shag Dancing Do you remember the Myrtle Beach Pavilion on the corner of 9th Avenue and Ocean Boulevard? The Pavilion, located one block from the beach, is where Carolina Shag originated in the 1930?s and is now very popular all over the southeast region of the United States. Shag dancing steps are smooth and grounded with emphasis on footwork rather than turns. The old saying is that shag is danced from the waist down. The Carolina shag may be danced to classic beach music or to Motown and blues. You too can learn to dance the shag by attending this class. 6 Wed Feb. 6 - March 12 6:30pm - 7:30pm $69 Register Early By: Thu Jan. 31 Jean Hawkins
