The North Georgia Chamber Symphony will present a live concert in Hancock Park, where you can bring your chairs, practice social distancing, and Wear a Mask! Or bring a blanket and sit down front! You’ll be able to hear us well anywhere in the park because we will have microphones on our fiddles!
Martha Gardner is our violin soloist on an energetic Violin Concerto in G Major, written in the 1700’s by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. An accomplished violinist, swordsman and horseman, he led the most famous orchestra in Paris, and was an associate of Mozart, and was a widely celebrated black composer. Martha will also be our soloist on Autumn, from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
Among the other selections we will perform are Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite for String Orchestra, and the Flower Duet from Delibes’ Lakme.
We will close with Motown Forever, a medley of My Girl, Stop! In the Name of Love, I Heard it Through the Grapevine and I’ll Be There, and “Duke” Ellington’s It Don’t Mean a Thing!
