Ribbon cutting ceremonies are a time of celebration. It is the culmination of a lot of hard work, perseverance and excitement.
The Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber welcomes Jay and Margaret Krowicki, Proprietors with Kilwins Dahlonega in Downtown Dahlonega. We invite you to join us in celebrating with them as they officially open their doors to the Dahlonega community with this ribbon cutting on the Historic Square.
Refreshments will be served complimentary.
Recognized on the National Register of Historic places, 40 Public Square South was originally known as The Housley Building, which was built to replace the old storehouse on the square. The Housley Building built in 1928, originally operated as the Housley General Mercantile and later became the local Bus Stop and Café in Dahlonega. Its unique cement facade is an artistic original in appearance and texture. In fact, as the mason was creating the storefront, it is said a passerby remarked how it reminded them of Varsity Fried Apple Pies.
Today, the Housley Building has recently undergone a major renovation by owners Jay and Margaret. The store has been restored and preserved architecturally into the beautiful storefront it is today for future generations to enjoy. It is exciting to see how the Kilwins Dahlonega store will now share in a piece of Dahlonega’s unique and rich history, known for being the first Gold Rush town in America.
Kilwins Dahlonega will offer a variety of products including 34 Original Recipe Ice Cream flavors, Hand-Crafted Chocolates, Hand-Paddled Fudge, Caramel Apples, Caramel Corns and Brittles and many Hand-Dipped Treats that are made in the store. Don and Katy Kilwin started the Kilwins business in 1947, and created a place where people can celebrate, vacation and share the experience of life, family and giving in a nostalgic, Americana setting. These traditional values set forth by Don and Katy Kilwin still hold true today in each one of our franchisees. We are excited for Jay and Margaret to be a part of the Dahlonega community and look forward to seeing how they provide their customers with great service and the finest products.
