Dahlonega Literary Festival
Announces 2020 Events
This year’s Dahlonega Literary Festival (DLF) is March 6-7. In it’s 17th year, DLF kicks off Friday night with a Songwriters Café and ends late Saturday afternoon with headliner sessions by best-selling authors Cassandra King (Conroy) and Karen White.
Other events: Bill Curry, football great speaks at the luncheon on Saturday; author Rona Simmons launches her book, The Other Veterans of World War II, Stories Behind the Front Line, a first for DLF; and the popular session, “Coffee with Terry Kay,” beloved Georgia author, returns.
Other outstanding Featured Authors are Jacob Appel, Jeffrey Bennett, Henry Carrigan, Joe Crespino, Carolyn Curry, Tracey Laird, Dana Middleton, Brian Panowich, Anna Schachner, Mark Warren and Beverly Willett. A variety of fiction and non-fiction genres will be presented through panels and individua presentations. Their books will be on sale (by Fox Tale Book Shoppe) and book signing sessions will be held.
DLF also showcases over 20 Regional Writers, offering a variety of fiction and nonfiction books. Their books will be available for purchase and signing on Saturday.
In addition, workshops and escape rooms will delight lovers of the written word.
All events are free except the Songwriters Café ($10) and “Lunch with Authors” ($15).
Tickets can be pre-purchased online. (Half of the proceeds from the Singer/Songwriter Café will benefit the Lumpkin County High School’s Music Technology Program.)
Saturday’s events are from 9:00 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. and are at the Dahlonega Baptist Church, 234 Hawkins St., except “Lunch with the Authors Featuring Bill Curry,” which will be in the fellowship hall of the Dahlonega United Methodist Church, 107 S. Park St.
Friday’s “Songwriters Café” is at Dahlonega Funeral Homes’ Community Room, at Hwy. 60 and Gibson Road (20 Gibson Rd.).
