CRY OUT AMERICA 2017 PATRIOT DAY
REMEMBERING 9/11
Patriot Day 2017, also referred to as 9/11 or September 11, is a holiday observed annually on September 11 as recognized by United States Law. It is dedicated to remembering and paying tribute to the 2,977 people killed and numerous people who were injured during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, in New York, Washington DC, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in the United States. This holiday should not be confused with Patriots’ Day, the anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolution and a holiday celebrated in Massachusetts, Maine, and other states.
The University of North Georgia has a memorial wall to honor former students of North Georgia College who were killed in the service of our country during time of war. They held programs remembering 9/11 and added a section to the wall entitled “Lost in Combat,9/11/01” with seven names etched in stone of UNG alums killed in the war on terror. The community of Dahlonega last celebrated 9/11 Patriot Day in 2002. This year, the Stephen Ministry of Dahlonega United Methodist Church are honored to provide our community a place to gather and pray on the 16th anniversary of 9/11 remembering this tragic event and honoring the people that were killed or injured and their families.
PLEASE JOIN US ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER, 11, 2017, IN THE SANCTUARY OF THE DAHLONEGA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FROM 6:00 PM UNTIL 7:00 PM FOR A SHORT PROGRAM FOLLOWED BY SILENT PRAYER. WE ARE PARTICULARLY HONORED THAT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH GEORGIA COLOR GUARD WILL BE PRESENTING THE FLAG AND ERIN PECK WILL PERFORM “THE NATIONAL ATHEM” AND “GOD BLESS AMERICA” ACAPELLA. IT WILL GIVE YOU THE CHANCE TO COMMEMORATE THIS TRAGEDY AND TO GIVE THANKS TO OUR LORD FOR HIS PRESENCE IN OUR TIME OF NEED, AS WE UNIFY AS A COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS.
