During the last weekend of September, two days of two-wheeled action will take center stage in Dahlonega, Georgia for Six Gap Century weekend. Hundreds of competitive adult and youth cyclists are expected to compete in over 10 races on Saturday, September 23 for the 6th Annual Six Gap Criterium. The following day, over 2,500 cyclists are expected to make the annual uphill pilgrimage in three non-competitive rides for the Six Gap Century and Three Gap Fifty. The Six Gap Criterium provides a one-kilometer, closed circuit for bicycle racers in the heart of downtown Dahlonega, a great spectator-friendly event to watch the cyclists pass multiple times at top speeds of 40 miles per hour. The start/finish line will be located on West Main Street across from the famous Historic Holly Theatre. Coming on September 24, 2017 and taking place in Georgia's Premier Cycling Venue, the Six Gap Century & Three Gap Fifty boasts many of the same roads and mountain climbs as the elite Tour de Georgia. Come ride the Ride of the Pros! The Six Gap Century?s ultra challenging route takes you up and down six of the steepest climbs in the North Georgia Mountains. Test your stamina with more than 11,200 feet of vertical climbing over the 104 mile course. Elevations for the six gaps in this ride range from 1,400 feet to 3,460 feet. The toughest climb, Hogpen Gap, will test even the strongest riders, averaging a 7% grade for seven miles, with sections as steep as 15%. 100 miles. 11,200 vertical feet. 2,500 friends.
The Ambassador Program is an outreach and retention program for Chamber members with a built-in opportunity to provide public relations exposure for the Ambassadors and the businesses they represent. The Ambassadors are a group of professional volunteers from varied backgrounds who, while representing their business, act as a liaison between the Chamber and its members. The Ambassadors meet the last Tuesday of each month at 12:00pm in the Chamber conference room.

The Chamber is pleased to announce that Robert Nichols has accepted the position as President of the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber & Visitors Bureau. Robb comes to Dahlonega from Columbus, Georgia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University. Robb?s first introduction to Dahlonega came by way of the US Army and Camp Merrill. He has a distinguished military and public service record as an Army Ranger, a senior military instructor at Columbus State University, and as a field representative for Congressman Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia?s 3rd District. Robb has experience in the Chamber world as Chief Operating Officer for the Greater Columbus Chamber. The Board and Staff will be hosting a Meet and Greet Reception to welcome Robb to our team on Wednesday, October 11th between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM at the Chamber of Commerce (13 South Park Street, Dahlonega). Everyone in our community is invited, so please stop by if you are able!
