It's been a fabulous year for tourism in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County -- not only in 2016, but also so far in 2017. We have been on quite a roll in terms of statewide, regional and national recognition for our infrastructure, hospitality, and innovative marketing. We have been recognized among some fairly high profile destination colleagues and we're consistently popping to the top of ''best of'' lists. It's time to say thank you all of you in our community who have helped to make all that happen -- and we do that annually in a format we call Travel Rally Day -- as part of National Tourism Week. This year Travel Rally Day will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, May 9, with balloons, and lemonade, and wearing red, and with delivery of some appropriate inspirational words from local and statewide officials. We would like you to join us at this event, at 11 am on the 9th on the Visitors Center Plaza. We would like to ask downtown merchants and visitors to join us -- taking a few moments out of their busy day -- to help celebrate our community's success. As members of the Chamber & Visitors Bureau, we thank you personally for your contributions to tourism efforts that have been successful in raising awareness of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County as one of Georgia's premier destinations for travel and enjoyment of great places to shop, stay, dine, find gold and enjoy wine. Thank you for all you do!

Looking for something fun to do on a Friday night? This summer, Dahlonega is inviting families and friends to their 7th Annual Movies Under The Stars series. Come sit back and enjoy the evening out in the fresh air watching one of our family friendly movies displayed on a 23' screen and selected by the students from our three Lumpkin County Elementary Schools. Before settling down to enjoy the film at dusk, kick off your Friday evenings at 6 p.m. with activities the kids will love, like coloring and free giveaways. Sample from a variety of concessions featuring summer favorites such as hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy (concession proceeds benefit Lumpkin Youth Leadership). Visit the Exhibitor Booths of local businesses and make sure you don't miss the ad previews on the screen that are displayed before the movie begins. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back lawn chairs. Are you a business looking for an affordable, creative way to advertise? Become a Preview Sponsor for $100 (includes all four movies - only $25 per movie!!). As a Preview Sponsor, your company will be promoted throughout the entirety of the summer movie series during the movie previews. Your preview advertisement should include your logo/ad image and a short blurb about your business that will be rotated on the 23' screen until the movie begins at dusk. This is a great way to showcase your business to local families! Another great way to advertise, and new this year, are our Exhibitor Booths. As an Exhibitor Sponsor you can set up a 10'x10' booth space to advertise, promote and familiarize Movies Attendees with your business or organization for $25 per movie. Contact Laura James at the Chamber for more information. About Lumpkin Youth Leadership Lumpkin Youth Leadership is a leadership project designed to enhance, inspire, and empower freshman and sophomore high school students to explore leadership and career opportunities within the community.
