2024 Inspire Women's Luncheon with Speaker Dr. Allison DuPont

Allison Dupont, MD, is a woman excelling in what has historically been a ‘man's world.’ While a little more than half of medical school students are women, only 4.5% of Interventional Cardiologists are female. The challenge of work/life balance in a particularly demanding medical specialty, heavy physical requirements, radiation exposure, and lack of female mentors are just a few of the reasons women have shied away from this specialty. Dr Dupont, however, has conquered the Interventional Cardiology barriers, and has not only gained the respect of her male and female colleagues, but has earned the distinction of “Exceptional Women in Medicine” and “Atlanta’s Top Doctors” for the past several years. As amazing as her professional accomplishments are, they’re even more impressive knowing she achieved them while being a loving wife, raising 2 boys, managing a home, finding time to give back to the medical community and mentoring other female Interventional Cardiologists. Because of her unique ability to exude confidence in a kind and caring manner, especially during critical or life threatening situations, the Cardiac Cath lab staff gave Dr. Dupont the nickname “She-ro.” We are so thankful for women who rise up to challenges around them and are humble enough to bring others along with them on their journey!
