SUMMARY:ROBINELLA WITH JAY CLARK
DESCRIPTION:Robinella has always made music that cannot be boxed into one category. The critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter has had the Industry struggling with descriptions as long as she has been making music. She has slipped in and out of genres ranging from Bluegrass\, Folk and Americana to Jazz\, always dodging labels.\n\nRobinella recorded her first album with her band at the time\, The CC Stringband\, self-titled Robinella and The CC Stringband\, in 2000. A second CD called No Saint\, No Prize followed in 2001. Both were on the independent label Big Gulley Records. Although the sound was increasingly eclectic\, Metro Pulse of Knoxville\, TN gave three Best Bluegrass Band awards to the group and added two for Robinella as Best Female Vocalist in 2001 and 2002.\n\nShe and the group?s reputation rapidly spread beyond Knoxville. Columbia Records liked what it heard and signed Robinella in 2002. The label took seven songs from the band?s two prior albums and released them as the CD Blanket for My Soul that year. In 2003\, they released their Columbia album\, Robinella and the CC Stringband\, toured nationally\, and made the media rounds in support of their album\, including an appearance on ?Late Night with Conan O?Brien? and a music video on CMT for ?Man Over?.\n\nShe also performed on NPR?s ?Mountain Stage\,? appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and performed on PBS?s ?SoundStage.? The group opened for such artists as Bob Dylan\, Kasey Chambers\, Willie Nelson\, Earl Scruggs\, Nickel Creek\, Robert Earl Keen\, Del McCoury and Rodney Crowell\, among others. In 2006\, Robinella was nominated for ?Emerging Artist of the Year? at the Americana Music Awards and released her fourth album\, ?Solace for the Lonely?\, on Dualtone Records in Nashville.\nJay Clark recently moved to Hazel Green\, Alabama\, and released his sophomore recording\, titled Progress\, in February 2006. As with Pen to Paper\, Progress was produced by Cruz Contreras and Jay\, recorded with the CC Stringband\, and features harmonies by Robinella (including a duet). He has started performing beyond the Knoxville area\, frequently opening shows for Robinella\, as well as touring on his own as a solo act.\n\nwww.robinella.com\nwww.myspace.com/robinella1\nwww.jayclarkmusic.com
