SUMMARY:Motherless Daughters Retreat with Hope Edelman and Claire Bidwell Smith
DESCRIPTION:Were you a child or teenager when your mother died?\n\n \n\nDo you often long for a mother's guidance and care?\n\n \n\nDoes your life story feel like it's split into "before" and "after" and that a piece of you is still stuck in the "before"?\n\n \n\nDo you often feel like an outsider among family and friends?\n\n \n\nWould you like to share three days with other women who understand?\n\n \n\nAcclaimed authors and mother loss experts Hope Edelman (Motherless Daughters\, Motherless Mothers) and Claire Bidwell Smith (The Rules of Inheritance\, After This) will take women on a three-day journey to share stories from their pasts\, discuss their present-day lives as women without mothers\, and set gentle intentions for their futures. Together we'll examine issues such as the fear of dying young\, resistance to self-care\, and feeling "stuck" at the age we were when our mothers died. Using small and large group discussions\, experiential work\, and storytelling techniques we'll explore the unique strengths and weaknesses that stem from early mother loss and the opportunities they offer for continued growth.\n\n \n\nHope and Claire are two of the most experienced and well-known voices in this field. This weekend is a rare opportunity to work with them together and to immerse in a healing experience within a community of women who share similar stories. Come prepared to share\, stretch\, cry\, laugh\, learn\, and grow.\n\n \n\nThis workshop is for women who were up to age 21 when their mothers died. We ask for at least one year to have passed between the date of loss and the first day of this workshop.
