DESCRIPTION:2021 UNG Hoag Lecture Series & Multicultural Student Affairs present: CONTEMPORARY ANTISEMITISM: A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER?\n\nGuest Speaker: Dr. Deborah Lipstadt is an American historian\, best known as author of the books Denying the Holocaust (1993)\, History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier (2005)\, The Eichmann Trial (2011)\, and Antisemitism: Here and Now (2019). Since 1993 she has been the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University in Atlanta\, Georgia. She testified before the House Foreign Relations Committee in February 2020 on contemporary antisemitism and potential responses by the United States. The movie Denial\, starring Rachel Weisz and Tom Wilkinson and nominated for a BAFTA\, is based on her book History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier.\n\nThe lecture is free and open to the public via Zoom\, however you must register in advance. After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the lecture.\n\nThe Hoag Lecture Series is named for former university President Merritt Eldred Hoag\, who led then-North Georgia College from 1949 to 1970\, and supported by funds from the Hoag family.
